Use case
CapyBro for students
Fix grammar, paraphrase, summarize, and translate your coursework — in any app, without a monthly subscription.
Student budgets and subscription fatigue don't mix. CapyBro is free forever for the core features, with an optional $19 one-time Pro — no recurring fee. Select text anywhere on Windows — in Word, your browser, a PDF reader, your notes app — press a hotkey, and the AI fixes grammar, rewrites for clarity, paraphrases, summarizes, or translates it in place. And with local Ollama mode it works offline, so you can keep writing on campus Wi-Fi that blocks half the internet.
How students use it
Polish essays and assignments
Write your draft in your own words, then select a paragraph and run "fix grammar and improve clarity, keep my meaning". You learn from the corrections and hand in cleaner work — without pasting your essay into a sketchy website.
Paraphrase without repeating yourself
Stuck repeating the same phrasing? Highlight a sentence and ask for a paraphrase in a different structure. Useful for varying your writing and seeing alternative ways to express an idea — keep it honest and cite your sources.
Summarize long readings
Paste a long article, lecture transcript, or chapter and get a concise summary of the key points. A fast way to review before an exam or decide whether a source is worth reading in full.
Translate foreign-language sources
Researching across languages? Select a paragraph of a foreign-language paper and translate it in place, or write an email to a professor in another language and have it checked. Ukrainian, Russian, English, and any pair your model supports.
Prompt recipes for students
Set these up once in Settings → Prompts and pick them from the prompt menu (Ctrl+Shift+Q).
Fix grammar, spelling, and punctuation in the selected text and improve clarity, but keep my original meaning and academic tone. Don't add new claims. Keep it in the same language.
Paraphrase the selected sentence using different structure and vocabulary while keeping the exact meaning. Keep it in the same language.
Summarize the selected text into 4–6 concise bullet points covering the main ideas. Keep it in the same language as the text.
Rewrite the selected text as a polite, formal email to a university professor. Keep it concise and respectful. Keep the original language.
Student FAQ
Is CapyBro really free for students?
Yes. The core features — grammar fixing, rewriting, paraphrasing, summarizing, translation — are free forever, no account required. There's an optional $19 one-time Pro for extras, but you never need it for everyday coursework, and it's a single payment, not a subscription.
Does it work in Microsoft Word and Google Docs?
Yes. CapyBro works in desktop Word, and in Google Docs through your browser, plus any notes app (OneNote, Notion, Obsidian) and PDF readers where you can select text. Select → hotkey → result in place.
Can I use it offline, for example with no Wi-Fi?
Yes, in Ollama mode. Install Ollama, download a small model, and the AI runs entirely on your laptop — no internet needed. Handy on restricted campus networks or while travelling.
Is this cheating?
CapyBro is a writing tool, like a spell-checker or thesaurus — how you use it is up to you and your school's rules. Using it to fix grammar, learn from corrections, or understand a source is legitimate; submitting AI-generated text as your own original work usually isn't. Use it to write better, not to write for you.
